This is a tricky or controversial issue. Many Asian countries in the 50s and 60s went on a fast learning mode by copying products unabashedly from the West and marketing them in volume and cheap. Many in defiance of patent and copyright laws copied; even now.

But experts agree that having NIH syndrome is not good either. Those who go by way of creative imitation profit most from the process.

Artists copy, even greater artist steal.
