Hiring shortcuts
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

There are several things we need to change about the way we hire.
There are three things that a candidate bring into the application: Passion, (he may not have this or not) Integrity, and Competence. . PIC.
HR and Personnel Department give undue importance to competence: job skills and job experience.
Integrity and Passion are not given much attention. But it should be PIC always. Thus we can frame question to properly screen applicants before he starts filling up the application form. Accept applicants who can answer these questions well. (Well you have to find a fit with your culture and your vision/mission)
Sample questions:
1. If you had a problem with instructions in your past job and you do not know how to do it, how do you handle this?
2. Can you describe to me a process in your job?
3. How do you handle interpersonal problems with your colleague?
4. What were your products in your previous job? What make them liked by customers?
5. Why are you applying for a job here?
6. What did you dislike in your past job? In your previous supervisor/manager?
7. What were your suggestion to your previous job?
Take note: Not because the guy worked for this or that company or has worked in Saudi means he is good. They never teach their employees. They are hired for the little things they know which to their employer means a lot.
Hire smartly.
