MVP, business tycoon, former chairman of school Board of Trustees, splits with Ateneo

Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

From Phil. Daily Inquirer

Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan, head of Metro Pacific Group, now embroiled in controversy with Enrile/Trilllanes tiff on China backdoor negotiations, called it a day with his alma mater and beneficiary of generations, Ateneo de Manila University.

MVP cited in his letter his decision in  a letter to Fr. Jett Villarin, AdeMU president.   The SJ, or AdemU presented its views on minining in a Jesuit Paper written by the SJ head in the PHL, Fr. Jojo Magadia.  The split came over differences on stand over mining laws and the RH bill.  (There was an issue earlier over a plagiarized graduation speech at AdeMU by MVP)

MVP through the mega companies he controls:  PLDT, SMART, has supported Ateneo with huge donations:  construction of school buildings, facilities and support for the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

He felt that by this split, each one would be free to pursue his advocacy;

He said that by having different opinion, he felt like a " fool helping an institution which opposes his views diametrically."

It is not that the business is bad but that of a "failed institution"  Our goal is to be excellent, to be better, even citing the Parable of the Talents and  what Ateneo teaches (magis)

He said that he is saddened by these events  (so with other AdeMU alumni,  and so with our difficult to undersand mindset as a people and institution..)

It is a sad day for the country, the alma mater, and business entrepreneurship's ecosystem

We should be grateful to MVP for his generosity to MVP, to wish him well and rest of the country.

OFWs are Philippines Resources, they prop up Philppine Economy

Our generation needs an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION.

News has it this morning that total OFW remittances for the first 9 months totalled $l4.76 billion; the total is expected to be more than $20 billion, more than $l8.00 billion last year.  Thats a whopping almost trillion addition to our economy fueling consumption retail sales, sale of houses, travel, tourism etc.

This has made our dollar reserves robust, made us survive many crisis, made up for loss of manufacturing and low agricultural productivity.  And all of these came from high population growth?  Guys in the public sector, shall you continue crusade for the RH bill.

While in tourist destination last week I happened to watch a debate on TV regarding granting/not granting residency status to domestic helpers.  The protagonists were certain Dr Pan in the Legislative Council and  a certain Emman a Filipino representing domestics in that area.   And what was disturbing was the comment why would residency be given to such workers who in the first place can not be given decent livelihood in the Philippines?  Well some of them were teachers, and had jobs and were lured by high paying jobs, because their workers would lose more if they would do domestic work.  The domestics were paid dearly, otherwise, they would not be motivated to work for them.  They are there because the residents need domestic helpers - badly badly.

Without the OFW, we would be in crisis.  The OFWs industry survived and flourished because we are talented and courteous people;  the world needs Filipinos, and we have the fertility and the population to suplly workers to ZPG or grey haired populated areas.

Let us Put the RH Bill to Rest (Lay on the Table)

Our generation needs a revolution - an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION. Join

While we were resting at a bike stop yesterday, somebody mentioned the RH bill controversy at he Phil.legislature. This is hotly contested between the government and the church. The topic came because of the current economic crisis at US and elsewhere. It was mentioned that the SS fund at US ran out because of aging population.

This issue of population control is relevant to economics and entrepreneurship.

The aging population difficulty is true in Europe, Japan, and Korea because of alarmingly very low birth rate.

That is where Phil rapid population growth becomes functional; it can supply the very much needed workforce and young people needed by these countries.

Also, it is rumored that they have a natural birth control system that works.(Rumor eh?) The birth control method they say that is natural is that women do not take a bath often and do not use fem wash. And that seems to be working very well (this is tongue in cheek hehehe) That is a big turn off if not totally unconducive to reproduction?

So guys, no need to quarrel on the RH bill; just ban fem wash and issue an edict that henceforth, ladies will only bathe once a month.

Dont you think it will work? It is non controversial and cheap? So guys stop the debate. Dont we think that we should at best leave it at that (like the Concon) We can save time and money and the divisiveness that will result from insisting on the passage of the law.

Let us just let Popcom and Doh DOH IT!!
