Giving up is not an option
Looking forward to the future of business
Is giving up on your mission, vision an option?
As you grow older,, sometimes you get exasperated. You are tempted to give up. But will that work.
Several years ago, an entrepreneur with 300 or so outlets quit and decided to give a hamburger type of outlets to his employees. and decided to be an employee again as a sign of generosity and good will.
However did it work?
It did not. The 300 or so outlets failed in the absence of general management, supervision direction and system.
Sometimes you need iron hand and determined leader to guide the team to victory. Nothing short of that will work.
How to handle unpleasant employees, staff
Looking forward to the future of business
While your primary goal as part of your mission is to provide jobs and employment, the actions and behavior of many do not show the gratitude for this kind of efforts:
1. Some steal;
2. Some are very selfish
3. Some can not understand;
4. Some do not obey your procedures
and is most true for those who are in officer position.
What needs to be done?
Will you leave a partner who has been most unpleasant to you?
Looking forward to the future of business
We have experienced a very difficult partner. He took us to court, changed our agreement and got the deal changed favoring him. He did not comply with his end, so we would have reverted to the old contract as provided for.
He got one of our employees to transfer to him and be the comptroller.
Unfortunately for him, the little money he got was spent on his health concerns. Lately it was for covid and he had to get a huge advance (it cost a lot to be with covid19)
There is now a new business opportunity and my board wants to leave him out. But the contract provides that we have to have him for new business opportunities.
Will you?

Many workers are totally unprepared for this post pandemic scenario
Looking forward to the future of business
We tried to advertise using soc media. Since many are in need of jobs, and many OFWs are coming home, and many companies are closing shops, we got a deluge of 500+ applications for about 5 openings. It was a huge jobs answering the applications.
Some observations:
1. Many applicants did not understand what the job opening was and kept asking in their
messages, what the job was and the qualifications needed? Not being taught i n colleges
2. Many did not have anything in their applications education and work experience
3. Others did not even know what a CV is?
4. When asked to explain why they like to apply with our company, and explain how their skills
match the vacancy, only 1 in 10 would comply with the request.
What has the educational system done to prepare our students for livelihood? What is the level of motivation of our workers to improve themselves?

Too much pride destroyeth man
Looking forward to the future of business
In this post pandemic era, people are out of jobs and many are applying to have a source of livelihoods. Many are humble enough to recognize the truth and one applicant I saw, a former Regional Sales Manager was willing to be a driver messenger.
However I came across two applicants whose egos were were beyond their head.
One whose rank was VP, lied to HR when he followed up that he was an applicant and was my business partner. When this office again scheduled for a meeting via Meeting, he squirmed his way out by saying he had no internet (a lie, how could he have sent his email application)
Another a marketing man, did not want talk to our other (also in marketing) He was highly critical of our hiring procedures, which focused on trying to find out how he would fit into our culture. Our hiring procedures followed INC and HBR procedures. No wonder he said he was no longer connected with a former employer because of intrigues and other professional jealousy. In the industry where he figures out he is good he has been there for only 3 years. We have there for the last 37 years.
Other executive applicants take time, in test of their obedience and management ability to mail in 3 answer to questions and again were critical of the company all ready due to numerous processes they are being subjected to. They need the jobs. They are the applicants. May be that is the reason why they are experiencing difficulties...

Developers of men and projects
Looking forward to the future of business
In bike ride today, I just learned that a former staff at HR has risen to become a VP of a car company (a Japanese venture) It is a great pleasure to know that a protege has risen to such heights.
Congratulations. It is a source of pride to know that our company has produced stars, albeit not under us. We wish them more power and success

The lockdown reveals the weakness of capitalism and its underlying structures
Looking forward to the future of business
Rizal Philippines
April 13, 2020
As a non business course undergraduate, I struggled as I was starting business to understand more about business, to study economics, money banking credit and finance, entrepreneurship. These were some of the things:
1. That banks have been most influential in expansion of business, especially the fractional reserve system, where little actual money can be made to multiply based on inverse of reserve requirements ie where the reserve requirement for banks is 20%, the money can be multiplied five times and so on. Much of the economy is based on debt. That if you have an economy say P5million, the liquidity that circulates maybe only 1/5
2. That business that progress needs its own money to finance its growth: be it a stock offering, a debenture, or credit cards to finance consumer financing. A business that does not do that, can grow organically, like a tree slowly; Like the SM group business when it used GC to increase purchase by its customers, eventually starting a bank that offers CC
3. That a bank rather than a collector of savings, create money by creating credits. US for instance, has
grown from about $20 trillion in debt, created by Federal Reserve banks, investment banks and credit card companies. Debts and more debts create progress in Western Countries.
4. A central bank, due to fiat currency system creates money out of thin air.
1. When issuing money:
Dr. Coins and currency xxxx
Coins and currency in circulation xxxx
the issuance of which is limited by ability of the Central Banks ability to print money
2. When lending to banks (as in buying bonds and debt instruments)
Dr xxx Loans
Due to Banks xxxx
expands money supply without corresponding increase in real assets as gold in the vault of the
Central bank
The Central Bank of China has been more adroit by investing the money in gold and strategic
commodities and oil rather than just Loans. Also invests in strategic oil companies. China has most
gold, and even TN...
5. A business is an important component of the capitalist system: it creates jobs and employment
and keeps the money, the cash flow circulating. Say for instance as a common example, you pay a
jeepney driver P10.00 for the fare, this P10.00 goes around to benefit:
1. Him and his family
2. The spare parts vendor and employees
3. The spare parts factory and employees
4. The gasoline station and its employees
5. The carinderia where the jeepney driver eats
6. The repair shops;
7. The ME oil producers, refineries, oil tankers - owners and seafarers
8. The banks and investors financing #7
9. The govt collecting the vat, the excise tax from numerous transactions going around the country -
from thousands of gasoline stations located nationwide
The govt does not dole out anything to keep the system going and to provide jobs to the millions in the country
6. The whole industry is interdependent and is a system. The supply chain is a delicate system. A defect in one disrupts and stops the capitalist system (just like a war)
Here comes the lockdown: which prescribes the closure of non esssential business, transportation so that people can stop moving and prevent the spread of virus. Life or business decision.
Here are the effect:
1. Business stops;
2. People lose their jobs
3. Jobless seeks money from govt;
4. Govt finds out it has the budget but no liquidity because it has stopped business - no one pays the taxes
including the one due on April 15 2020
This is the weakness. We are not prepared for this. Its worse than a bank run. Its a nationwide depletion and stoppage of economy and cash flow. A bitter pill to swallow. Now we see/forecast up to 80% reduction in business, expansion mode is on hold while others see closure /bankruptcy at their door, sapping the strength of the banking sector..
5. Many people dependent on other jobs: like jeepney drivers, vendors are impoverished and may soon go hungry and riot
With the lockdown, the whole capitalist system, the banking system collapses. With the extension of payment of rents and other credits, the cash flow so necessary for the banking system stops. Even the govt, pathetically sees that there is no money at the barrel... It has to borrow from abroad.
The lockdown effectively crushed the capitalist system dead on its tracks. The system built up very hard by business has ground to a standstill. It may take years to bring back the business to its former status just 30 days ago. And it will entail huge amounts of money. Business may decline 1% of GDP (about mere $3B) as estimated by experts. I would say 40% to 50%
When the system hums on its own, the govt does not have headache nor logistical problems. The crisis breeds a lot of problem

Innovation in modern warfare - Unrestricted Warfare
Looking forward to the future of business
Rizal Philippines
April 13, 2020.
The world's current relationship with China, ie the origin of CCP Covid 19, brings out the new innovation in China's conduct of relationship with the world. Unrestricted Warfare, conceived in 1999 by two Colonels at PPA. The way China conducts its affairs now with the world, with the Phl, is not only Machiavellian, two faced strategy but under the tenets enumerated in this paper. This could very well be sequel to Art of War of Sun Tzu in the modern times.
Unrestricted warfare
Using unrestricted warfare in foreign policy
Some years ago, I taught in a leading university graduate school course innovation as part of entrepreneurship course. The rule in innovation is first there is no rule.
Thus, this document could very well entitled innovation in military principles.
Due to the emergence of Covid 19 infecting more than a million, and killing more than 60,000 and bringing down the whole world to its knees (crash of stockmarket, shortage of hospital supplies, lack of vaccine) this document comes to our mind, having been mentioned in number of documents and videos, ie that this writing must have been imbibed by the civilian and military leaders in China to pursue this action.
The authors, colonels at PLA wrote this document in February 1999 and talks about use of means military and non military means to achieve a country's goal of achieving its goal (of dominating another country)
Qiao Liang and Wang Xiashou.
The document should be read by our civilian and military leaders (at National Defense College) which teaches military stragegy. While we struggling with politics, our would be master are putting one over us, for using a combination of military and non military means. (Some in the govt, by using media in battle for supremacy are employing some of the principles.)
Some of the notes/observations in document
1. War is an activity using military and non military means, using limited resources to achieve superiority over other nations
2. Might is right. Those who have more soldiers and weapons win the war
3. Use of technology in weapons: technology dictate the weapon to be used, or warfare dictate what technology to be used.
4. With technology the distinction between military and non military action becomes blurred.
5. With high technology comes the need for a variety of weapons to achieve a goal. As much as 300 weapons are needed to win a war. Sometimes the search for high tech weapon could bankrupt a country as it did to Russia (as it is doing to US where a B2 bomber cost can exceed $billions
6. There are variety of weapons to be used in todays conflict: financial, trade and ecological (like poisoning lakes and rivers/water supply) and the effects could be more devastating than a nuclear war.
7. There should be distinction between soldiers of war, and/or hackers or financiers like George Soro who can disrupt currency exchange rate, or can disrupt computer network. And a wise general/leader should be able to exploit both military and non military means to subjugate other nations... The scope and breath of war has radically changed.
8. The Desert Storm War:
Some lessons learned:
1. It was 42 day war accomplished in 38 days with Air Force taking the lead
2. The main weapon of victory were the helicopters but were not noticed after the war
3. It was achieved at great cost of $61B and was like shooting birds with golden bullets
4. The war worked because of reorganization of DOD between Powell and Schwarskopf
But the US military did not learn from it because of conflict among Airforce, Navy and Army
5. It worked because of addition and combination (of allied forces which was worked on brilliantly
by diplomats
6. War can be fought side by side with media (CNN) because it can be used as propaganda
and could change the disposition and morale of enemies
7. Powell and Schwarzkopf, although they won the Desert Storm could not be considered great
generals because they used traditional methods using high tech weapons to win the war.
They did not understand the new concept of war. Modern warfare..
9. Some recommendation:
1. Use of golden number (as in Da Vinci Code) 1:681
2. Side by side; addition
3. Cocktails (mixture of means to achieve superiority)
4. Removing boundaries: between military means and non military means, personnel and weapons.
A modem a cp, laptop could be as lethal as a nuclear bomb. Or a tomahawk.
Thus the defensive measures must cover: bio warfare
trade warfare
financial warfare
defenses vs hacking and intrusion into firewalls
aside from the military front...
Many of the Generals could be inept in adapting these methods and strategy
