Innovation in modern warfare - Unrestricted Warfare
Looking forward to the future of business
Rizal Philippines
April 13, 2020.
The world's current relationship with China, ie the origin of CCP Covid 19, brings out the new innovation in China's conduct of relationship with the world. Unrestricted Warfare, conceived in 1999 by two Colonels at PPA. The way China conducts its affairs now with the world, with the Phl, is not only Machiavellian, two faced strategy but under the tenets enumerated in this paper. This could very well be sequel to Art of War of Sun Tzu in the modern times.
Unrestricted warfare
Using unrestricted warfare in foreign policy
Some years ago, I taught in a leading university graduate school course innovation as part of entrepreneurship course. The rule in innovation is first there is no rule.
Thus, this document could very well entitled innovation in military principles.
Due to the emergence of Covid 19 infecting more than a million, and killing more than 60,000 and bringing down the whole world to its knees (crash of stockmarket, shortage of hospital supplies, lack of vaccine) this document comes to our mind, having been mentioned in number of documents and videos, ie that this writing must have been imbibed by the civilian and military leaders in China to pursue this action.
The authors, colonels at PLA wrote this document in February 1999 and talks about use of means military and non military means to achieve a country's goal of achieving its goal (of dominating another country)
Qiao Liang and Wang Xiashou.
The document should be read by our civilian and military leaders (at National Defense College) which teaches military stragegy. While we struggling with politics, our would be master are putting one over us, for using a combination of military and non military means. (Some in the govt, by using media in battle for supremacy are employing some of the principles.)
Some of the notes/observations in document
1. War is an activity using military and non military means, using limited resources to achieve superiority over other nations
2. Might is right. Those who have more soldiers and weapons win the war
3. Use of technology in weapons: technology dictate the weapon to be used, or warfare dictate what technology to be used.
4. With technology the distinction between military and non military action becomes blurred.
5. With high technology comes the need for a variety of weapons to achieve a goal. As much as 300 weapons are needed to win a war. Sometimes the search for high tech weapon could bankrupt a country as it did to Russia (as it is doing to US where a B2 bomber cost can exceed $billions
6. There are variety of weapons to be used in todays conflict: financial, trade and ecological (like poisoning lakes and rivers/water supply) and the effects could be more devastating than a nuclear war.
7. There should be distinction between soldiers of war, and/or hackers or financiers like George Soro who can disrupt currency exchange rate, or can disrupt computer network. And a wise general/leader should be able to exploit both military and non military means to subjugate other nations... The scope and breath of war has radically changed.
8. The Desert Storm War:
Some lessons learned:
1. It was 42 day war accomplished in 38 days with Air Force taking the lead
2. The main weapon of victory were the helicopters but were not noticed after the war
3. It was achieved at great cost of $61B and was like shooting birds with golden bullets
4. The war worked because of reorganization of DOD between Powell and Schwarskopf
But the US military did not learn from it because of conflict among Airforce, Navy and Army
5. It worked because of addition and combination (of allied forces which was worked on brilliantly
by diplomats
6. War can be fought side by side with media (CNN) because it can be used as propaganda
and could change the disposition and morale of enemies
7. Powell and Schwarzkopf, although they won the Desert Storm could not be considered great
generals because they used traditional methods using high tech weapons to win the war.
They did not understand the new concept of war. Modern warfare..
9. Some recommendation:
1. Use of golden number (as in Da Vinci Code) 1:681
2. Side by side; addition
3. Cocktails (mixture of means to achieve superiority)
4. Removing boundaries: between military means and non military means, personnel and weapons.
A modem a cp, laptop could be as lethal as a nuclear bomb. Or a tomahawk.
Thus the defensive measures must cover: bio warfare
trade warfare
financial warfare
defenses vs hacking and intrusion into firewalls
aside from the military front...
Many of the Generals could be inept in adapting these methods and strategy

1. Offer options to the prospect if you have multiple products
If you have bread and butter product, give more emphasis on core products.
say fencing vs gazeebo,
Dont be too general. Which will turn off your prospect for the bread and butter
2. Clear and visible specific navigation.
1. Testimonials
2. Prices
3. Contacts (in pages)
3. What is the main offer? Avoid technical lingo
(avoid slider, carousel) Stick with one image and message
4. Call out the benefits (do not dive into into features)
What are they going to get perks
Benefit (Emotional) Icon (visual cues)
Logical (bullet points not exceeding 10 benefits)
5. Include testimonials (product review) Social review. Real picture of the reviewer.
Include a video testimonial. Use a plug in proof...
6. Call to action. Make it easy. Make it stand out not of same color (make it stand out)
1. Call, or have consultation. Only 3 to 10% go to the site to buy
2. Secondary call to action. (have a magnet)
Have a one final offer if they are exiting.
Avoid stock images, have plenty of white space. Have bold. Clear call to action

Psychological Triggers for Website optimazation to make it more persuasive
Professor on Entrepreneurship
Rizal Philippines
November 3, 2019
You can make your website and ads more persuasive.
1. Getting the foot in the door. Once the prospect gets his foot in, does a little thing for you, the more he is likely to do bigger thing. After he requests for a video, schedule a meeting
2. Truth become real with repetition (at the title at the text
3. Fear of losing
1. What do they lose - savings
2. Start saving money vs., stop losing money (mention hell first)
3. Scarcity
4. Mirror effect- people respond if you are placing yourself in their shoes... Or how the same work
helped other people just like them. Loo for the testimonial. (in the same age group)
Use the same word what
5. Use band wagon effect(herd) We do what the others do, Where the trend is going
"Join the hundred customers who have chosen your product, others who have
Proof.com plug in.
6. Identifiable victim
It helps to narrow it down, with a specific case study. Testimonial with whom they can identify
7. Analysis paralysis
Avoid too many options/choices
Studies have shown too many
Simplify: Rule: one person, one offer, one information for the person to make a decision. If it is
loaded with too many information, that tends to confuse, remove the others
8. Anchoring
Say bigger price.. And then plug in the smaller price (even when big, looks reasonable)
Show more expensive price first...

Facebook ad mistakes to avoid from Deepend...

Tips:
1. Keep it simple
1. Single campaign
2. Two adsets only
3. large audience targetted in the beginning vs. focussed smaller (because you turn off other leads
2. Not targeting strategically: (when you go to the next stage) of acquaintance
1. From what you know
2. Your research on target audience: demographics, pages they like, FB activity
3. Not trying different hooks
say 3 hooks (benefits) of the product: You never know the hooks that attract the customer (you do
not know until you try
4. Not warming up:
You have not given enough information not made the trust of buyers and appear as sleazy salesman
1. Give advice by video
2. Lead magnets to get people to read on.
1. Send
5. Too hands off, or hands on
1. Too much hands off, and get impatient monitoring ads very frequently. Increase budget to those
that work, and leave those that do not. Have 72 hours for it to work
6. Objectiveconfusion:
Determine the goal (in the ad)
1. Retarget, conversion, traffic?
2. FB has target of 50x response so that the algorithm can work..
3. In a smaller area, maximize the reach

Lead Generation by Dan Lok - Why do you need this? What is this?
Professor on Entrepreneurship
Rizal Philippines
October 20, 2019
1. What are leads? Why do you need this?
In previous lectures, leads are suspects. They are the universe of audience in the community who
can be suspects or who COULD BE POSSIBLY INTERESTED IN OUR PRODUCTS SOME
TIME. Thus they may be non customer, non prospect, and you as a marketer may ignore them
Hence we have a program to take care of this via: FOFF (Free obituaries for friends - people who
are customers
2. Why do we need them?
This is to keep the sales funnel forever operating - suspects, leads, replace the prospects who become
your buyers.
3. Example:
For every 100 people 3% are sure buyers (Class A) 7% are B, interested but maybe lacks money
or needs further conversation
30% are not interested at all.
By your ads and sales talk, or say a stadium talk, you may lose your leads:
How do you let the 30% stay in the stadium because they may be transformed from C or D
Suspects to A and B.
If you say, those who will buy the lot stay, we will lunch, then only 3 will remain the rest will leave.
Hence in lead generation, you want to a have a pool of suspects who can be prospects.
In lead generation you widen the net
Get them with opt in or learn more posts: Send them PDF, tips on things that may be
of help to them in the future. Like estate planning, staying healthy
After 3 to 5 months of being a friend and you sending them information, they may become your
friend and be a buyer too. So the rest of 30% stay and now you have a larger pool of buyers

Getting traiffic to your blog via opt in - internet marketing
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship
This is a repetition of the previous statements that in order to build an LCP, you need : a free web/blog site, a marketing software like A Weber, Chimp Mail (but this is ugly) Magic Response, Get Response which are complete platform: capturing email (opt in), template for the opt in, landing page, and template for newsletters and emails.
You must however concentrate in creating an attractive magnet to draw in those who will be your future buyers. Concentrate on making your landing page:
1. Simple
2. Attractive
3. Magnetic
4. Compelling

Crimson Hotel at Alabang - a great place to stay away from Home - where we had AGSB conference
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship
It is a 25 storey hotel with imposing facade; hotel starts at 8th floor
August 9, 2013
The AGSB faculty conference was held at the Crimson Hotel in Alabang. It is located right in front of South Station and near the commercial areas of Muntinglupa (the market, the Starmall bus stattion) and pretty much crowded. The hotel lobby is at the 8th floor and and they have several floors from the ground devoted to parking.
It is owned by Filinvest and somebody runs it for Filinvest as a hotel.
I can say that the hotel is very competitive to Seoul and Bangkok hotel. Their buffett is sumptous and would be comparable to Waterfront and BKK hotels.
Crimson can give foreign hotels a run for their money.
I highly recommend Crimson Hotel. (They are not paying me for this blogpost)
The pool area
Tent like structure at the pool area
Nice furniture, ceiling, lighting, and art works at hotel lobby
Hotel lobby wall, and lighting
Another art work, Thai inspired?
Look at rich decor and lighting
The pool area as seen from 17th floor
Exquisite mother of pearl ceiling
Bathroom decor, note the expensive marble table top
The TV conference display board
Cafe 8 bar lights
Room bathroom tiles
A typical room
View of the poolside; Laguna Lake, and Talim Island
Ceiling lamp in the conference room
The fiesta mall
Other glass towers at Alabang Filinvest City
Impressive painting at the Hotel Lobby
Great lighting and decor at the elevator area
Sunrise, nice skies as viewed from the hotel room
Crimson flowers at the lobby
Fountain and waterfalls at the middle of hotel lobby - feng shui elements (at the 8th floor)
An ultra modern gym; each station would cost over a hundred thousand?
The south station as viewed from the gymn

Doctah Bengzon - a full production video ala Gangnam style
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship
See this wonderful, albeit funny video - a tribute to Dr. Bengzon.
See this wonderful, albeit funny video - a tribute to Dr. Bengzon.
Doctah Bengzon Style - AAC
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship | August 9, 2013
The operations cluster headed by Prof Ralph Ante listens well to Dr. Bengzon
Dr Alran Bengzon, the ex VP of Ateneo Professional School was sent on retirement (he must be 70 well past the retirement age) He said a valedictory address for Dean Albert for the wonderful job he as protege done for AGSB. From a train station to a superb No. 1 GSB of choice in the country.
A video, a production was made in honor of the former Dean of AGSB
Last August 7, after praising Dean Albert, he said he must say his final goodbye (having retired?)
He started in l993 20 years ago and he started talking to the faculty then, and asked the simple question: what is so Ateneo about AGSB. And through the years, that must be answered in the conference as we look ourselves in the mirror and try to clarify the answer to that question.
He cited the 3 themes prior to 2009 l50th year celebration of Ateneo in the country:
2007 - Celebrating Excellence - Development of Person; of man for others
2008 - Deepening spirituality - relationship of man to God, of man to things, and man to others
2009 - Nation Building - AGSB of the all the units was the first to say that " Our country is our business.
He says that the lives by the AAC:
Accountability - what is your job? Have you delivered value according to the dictates of your job? What have you done according to the objectives of the job and the vision and the mission of the organization
Audacity - courage. Do you have candor? If you lack candor, if you fail to properly assess evaluate your boss, your subordinate and peer, if you continue to fool one another, then your giftedness would not translate into action ---->> achievement. This stand is similar to that of Andrew Grove where he encourages debate and confrontation in communication. tsk tsk This is difficult. You cant afford to draw the ire, the flak from your boss. They take candor personally. Is this the Filipino way? But I understand, even in Western countries, they lack candor in their evaluation or relationship. That is why we see increasing decay in performance. Much of the malaise in US economy is the inability to address the growing lack of productivity of workers (they have become leisure vacation oriented and lack the work habits to excel, ie, have become lousy and lazy)
Only when you have accountability, and audacity can you have community
Do you agree with the Bengzon style?

He was ignored by Rachel (emcee then) and his comment lasted for one hour
Doctah Bengzon smiles as he sits beside Dean Albert whom he praised for the latters excellent achievements after he let him handle AGSB 5 years ago.

Rappler Interview of Prof Jorge on Victoria Court motel case analysis
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship
I was interviewed by Aya Lowe of Rappler (whose CEO is Maria Aressa)on Victoria court motel case anlysis. She was sent by Lala Rimando, business news editor of Rappler, who herself was an AGSB MBA student. Aya is studying at Ateneo in Loyola.
It turned out that my blogpost on Victoria Court case last June 27, 2013stood out like sore thumb at Google (How come motels merit a case analysis in a Catholic Graduate School of business, and a leading Graduate School of Business in the world at that?!)
Here is the article that came out the following day, before the love day.
