Getting traiffic to your blog via opt in - internet marketing

Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

This is  a repetition of the previous statements that in order to build an LCP, you need :  a free web/blog site, a marketing software like A Weber,  Chimp Mail (but this is ugly) Magic Response, Get Response which are complete platform:   capturing email (opt in), template for the opt in, landing page, and template for newsletters and emails.

You must however concentrate in creating an attractive magnet to draw in those who will be your future buyers.  Concentrate on making your landing page:

1. Simple
2.  Attractive
3. Magnetic
4.  Compelling

This site is well read abroad rather than in the PHL?

Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

The origin of this site is PHL.  When I started this site, this was read mostly by my Entrep students at AGSB.  However, as time went by I notice that we got more visitors from abroad.  Thus right now, the No. visitors are from the US and PHL just ranks # 2.

I wonder what has happenned.?  I intended this to be a local site.  Now it has gone global.

Thanks to our readers from abroad/other countrie.

God bless and Happy New Year.  May the best of 2013 be on us.

Prof Jorge Entrep is Just a Year Old Netizen

Promoting Entrepreneurial Revolution

As I reviewed my ppt presentation at Slideshare I saw the date April 2011. I realized that it has been only a year since I learned how to use the computer.  I used to ask my daughter make my ppt lectures or company assistant to open my emails.  My emails were largely unanswered.  Talk about social media -  naaah. FB?  FlickR . What are they.

But reviewing the year that I passed, these were the things that I was able to do:    opened accounts at Slideshare, Flickr, LinkIn, Twittter, FB and is connected to most of them.  I was able to open 3 personal blog accounts at blogspot,  2 at Wordpress, and 4 corporte blogs.    Some of the blogs at the 27,000 page views all ready (this blog) with over 800 blogposts.

I managed to have articles at Google search under 3 names numbering more than l0 pages each, from nothing. Since I am Googleable, therefore I exist.  (to paraphrase Descartes)

Did I manage to create value for myself?  In terms of PHP it is nada Zero.  But I gained a lot of IT ( I learned a great deal on widgets, linking, HTML posting, posting pictures and videos) knowledge and create a new body of knowledge and contributed to the growth of knowledge perhaps (the academe does not  recognize blogs as research).  In so far as the teaching is concerned, I think this added to the novelty of my classes,  increased learning of the student.

The main point is I followed the must for every human on earth:  it is about getting better.  It is about improving oneself.  It is about being useful to all other humans.

Yes, old dogs can learn new tricks.

What is the Correct Answer in Case Analysis?

An Ateneo Graduate School of Business Advantage

We are now in the case analysis portion entrepreneurship.  I enjoin that everyone read the case well and if need be several times, to get  a good grasp of critical and relevant data to appreciate the situation/problem in the case.  (Sometimes some students say there is no problems.  Period)

Others ask for the correct analysis/solution from the professor.  I throw back the question, "What do you think?"  Maybe it is a shocking answer.  I say that the correct answer is the one that you can adequately defend after searching for the relevant facts/data.  We train the MBA students to think critically for themselves on their feet to become guru, masters themselves when they leave the school portals.

That is the purpose of case analysis and/or MBA.  We professors are not there to give you the correct answer (what is this a course on memorization?) but to train you engage in critical thinking.  That can not be taught by blogs or distance or on line teaching.   That is where MBA education, case analysis comes in.

Sta Rosa Regis Entrep Students

These are the stories I remember from their introduction last night, re:   Secret Desires:

MARK LESTER SALVADOR:   He is an avid extreme athlete.  He did a l7 hours ultramarathon and did a semi iron man.  He bikes, runs and  swims.  He works at Carrier, Concepcion and contemplates on being a CEO on his own, or for corporate. As a loyal Carrierian, he does not speak well of Koppel AC in the classroom.  It does not cool enough, badly maintained, is dirty.  Early on, he wants to be in charge of a group;  but his secret desire is to be a pedicab driver.  And I commented it is apt because he drives, and brings people to their destinations (what a leader must do)

He says he blogs and such is is running blog:  the Knightrunner which I all ready visited. I  imitated his gadget:  the flag counter.  (You can see that this blog is read globally)

LEAH.  Works at Gardenia (the breadmaker) and is the class sec.  She looks like she is 20 only but  maybe is not being truthful when  she says she is 33?  She was orphaned early on and had to take charge of her life and that of her siblings being the eldest.  She is contemplating as to whether she will continue to be a career woman or a mother to her her child/ren

GERRY.  Works at Sumiden and is involved in R & D.  They make flexible circuit board.  He wanted to be a policeman but did not pursue the same.  His family line had many police officers.  He wanted to be cut the family tradition of  indiscretion (at the male side).  He was the first student I met at the campus.

NORMAN.  Is a true expat and a global manager for Carrier/Concepcion and does a lot of work on process improvement.  Many Carrier companies in the region report to him.  He all ready has a business plan in mind consultancy in his specialization but wants to finish his MBA first before taking the road less taken. Since he was late for more than 30 minutes, to make up, he started by treating me to coffee and bread at Red Ribbon.  (It is the house rule in the syllabus, and the consequence is being marked as absent if you do not treat the entire class.  Norman, may utang ka sa kanila.  Baka puwede zesto or 3 in l)

The others, Armand, Redentor (except for his hint on a different kind of scholarship) were shy on what they wanted to do.  Armando well, wanted to be scout for beautiful models.  To which, we said, give us your contact address/cp number; or maybe we can carry your luggage or be his PA?

I noticed that most of the guys, true to the location and service area are mostly engaged in production/opeman.  Most are in production planning, engineering, r & d, process improvement, kaizen, quality, construction.  This is a great review, education for me on production/engineering.

At Regis in Rockwell, they were mostly IT.

The early birds, two were late, one was absent

She was conscious as I took the picture but wants to invent new materials and dabble in Jewelry

Leah, of Gardenia, the class sec, looking 20 ish

Mark, an ultra man, slim and fit, looking like saviour, and a movie star

I understand, Mark our pedicab driver will do a Mararthon this Sunday.  Let us all cheer him up and support him.  It is a tough exercise to follow and do.

More Learning from the Blogroll and Newsreel

"Every generation needs a revolution an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION."

Am I glad that I learned how to place widgets on my blog.  The two important widgets for me are the bloglists and the the newsreel.  For this Entreprshare blog,  I chose CSR, CSV, international business and entrepreneurship for the blogfeed and newsfeed.

I woke up to the fact that there is still much to learn from the web, from the world and others on the subject of entrepreneurship.  I had pretended that all ready know what is to be learned on the subject matter.  The blogroll and newsfeed remind me to keep abreast.  Sometimes, I think that students and other readers alike would learn more from the sidebar:  newsfeed and blogroll than from my main blog.  I feel more like a student than a professor.

On blogging and use of the Internet/web

Four months ago I was, despite my insistence in the company that we go IT, and the requirements at the school where I teach part time, that all teaching staff must be IT literate, I would not know how to open an email or safely remove a USB from a computer. I was a PU man (puro utos)  However, when my daughter, upgraded a power point on the day of the presentation, I decided to take matters in my own hands.  I learned the following:

l.  Make a power point (how to copy paste pictures and images)

2. Upload at slide share

3.  Tweet, upload at Flick.R account,

4.  Open  Gmail account, use of google maps

5.  Blog, put on widgets, upload pictures.

Outcomes/achievements:  I have uploaded created l6 ppt on entrepreneurship at slideshare, am on Linked In, created 8 blogs:  2 on biking, 2 on entrepreneurship, 4 corporate blogs. One of my slides have 600 visits. We have blogs that have over l500 visits.  Our ranking at memorial park page has gone up from 4 to no 2 (even without a website still). For organic search, we are no. l.  Blogging works. Under my own name, I have about five pages at google search (that was from less than one 4 months ago) Many more under profjorgeentrep (that is because of the tweet under the same name)

Its a Tough World for Bloggers

I happenned to look again at an old book on blogging; its about three years old.- "Blogging for Business." At about the same time, the business world came out with an article on use of wBlogs in business.  However when I read and I checked the status of this profjorgeentrep (entrepshare blog) at the blogsphere, I could not find this blog of mine in the blog search engine.  Now wonder, the visits are quite few in number.

Now, I have to do a lot of work: suppplying and posting URL to the search engine and minding the feedburner and other rss feed.  It is not good not to be techie.

Another Entrep Class Tomorrow

I had been advised that I will handle a new  batch of Entrep Students tomorrow, July l8.  They will be Middle Managers MBA students.  Incidentally, the deadline for BP of both standard and Middle Manager students is tomorrow.  I hope that they will submit outstanding business plan.  I have an ongoing entrep class at Clark, and the last session is on Wednesday, July 2l.

For the new entrep class I will do the following:

l.  I will inject the international mindset in teaching entrepreneurship or talk about international business as well.

2.  Mention the l0 graduation outcome as discussed in the faculty conference.

3.  Use the internet/social media in the conduct of the class:
            l.  Minimize use of paper in submission of assignments.  Submit assignments via blog and post at the grade with the post.
            2.  Posting at pages the house rules and most of the syllabus.
            3.  Continue class discussion by having students post comments on controversial items.
            4.  Post the special report at slideshare.(a website)
In doing this, I will really be making entrep class truly 2lst century entrepreneurship
