Playing to Win - Book on Strategy by Roger Lafley fmr P and G CEO and Martin
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship
From Good Reads
I just saw Roger Lafley at the Fox News interview on his boo "Playing to Win -How Strategy Really Works a new book on strategy. It is written by Lafley and Martin of Rotman School of Management. Lafley is the iconic boss of P & G, the consumer goods company of Cincinatti who was responsible for quadrupling profit, increasing market value of P & G stock by $100 billion, doubling sales in just ten years.
His secret of course - how did he do it is via a strategy - a choice of key activities and resources to achieve an objective.
He has five questions:
*What are our aspirations (objectives/goals)
* Where will we play?
* What are our capabilities (what do we have? - resources)
* How shall we play (choice of activities)
* What are management systems required to support our game?
It is surprising how success formula or strategy can be that simple
