What accounts for difference in spread of innovation?
Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

Why do innovations differ in the rate of spread/adoption? Peter Drucker was right in saying that for innovation to spread, it must answer three criteria: social, technological, and economic benefits.
And Kurt Lewin was right too in Force Field: the driving and restraining forces.
The examples mentioned in the article were adoption of anaesthesia and antiseptics and aseptic procedures in hospitals. The restraining force, ie the resistance (social, embedded habits) and technological complexity in use (sterilization, cleanliness, hygiene) caused the delay in adoptin.
Always think about Peter Drucker's take on innovation and that of Kurt Lewin whenever you are thinking of introducing an innovation
