Logic Behind the Group Scam Presentations

The Ateneo GSB Advantage

Three semesters ago, when I required reflections on past lessons from Entrep students, one of students, an Assumptionista, questioned why there is such a group activity.  She believes that such does not have place in this subject, much less, in Ateneo.

Well these I say:

l.  The world is full trickery.  Ateneans can not be Pollyanas.  According to Attila the Hun, trust no one.   According to Andrew Grove, former Chairman CEO of Intel, "only the paranoid survive"  Out there, suppliers, people out to make a fast buck, your friends, your customers are scheming on you.  Beware.  The exercise/group work lets you dissect the criminal/scammer's mind.

2.  The inputs and processes utilized by good and bad guys are the same.  All have inputs:  resources, (manpower, money, machinery, materials)  throughputs:  have processes, standards, job descriptions, sequence,  planning:  plan a, plan b, networks:   PERT, CPM, options, back ups, alternatives.  Only the goals differ (or object)

3.  Be security conscious.  Be aware of risks.  Have risk management.  Scam proof your sales promo, your sales policies, your supply chain management.;  protect your assets from crime and theft.  Most of crimes are inside job.  How do you prevent it?

4.  In your inbox:  email or sms, there are plenty of enticements:   $300,000 (thats l2m pesoses) has been deposited in your account..... wow.... let us see.

5.  You have to redefine your idea about business:  it not about just profit or making money.  It is value creation.  And value is not just money.

Money as a value should be redefined.  Money does not have gold equivalent;  it is a promissory note of the government/Central Bank.  And what do they pay you?    Another piece of paper;  another Promissory note.
