Ian Remigio only aged 28 is a multi millionaire and has arrived

Ateneo Professor on Entrepreneurship

                                  Ian wears white shirt.  He was nervous when he spoke

I am getting amazed.  More and more of entrep guests are homegrown (from Ateneo) and am amazed that the guest tonight was a former entrep student, way back in 2008 at Salcedo. (It used to be that DLSU grads and UP grads led the list of entrep guest.)  He said he got a 4 from the subject (a rarity these days) mentioned about the NU 10 (NU 12 now).  His BP about his current business now, CITIDEV was the same stuff he used for his strama.

I think he has arrived. he mentioned that his current inventories include:  a hectare PHP1.2 million each unit (low cost) in Novaliches, and two units worth $12 million each speaks of the large fortune he accumulated since then.

He said that what motivated him was the early love of real estate.  He was an economics graduate at UST, worked at RLC in 2004 after graduation  under the now President of Eaton, was a number cruncher decided that he will not be like his companions who had been at JG group for 20 years still doing the same grind.  He decided to be on his own and never looked back. He left in 2006 to start Citidev in partnership with his mother.   I met him in 2008 at the Sentrep class in Salcedo.

His father and mother separated;  his mother is a writer and his father is an engineer.  As luck would have it, his sister is an architect.

Some insights:

                               Ian Remigio with his former classmate Arvin Yabut

l.  You are multi tasking,  you do everything; inspect project sites, do MR,

2.   You negotiate a lot of things with suppliers, employees, contractors

3.  Everything is risky and sometimes you fear that the project would not turn out, but then Providence has it that you sell all units;

4   He operates in a niche market, one or two units and never fear competition from the big guns

5.  It is not about making money but doing what you love to do

6. Entrepreneurship is about mindset

7.  When you do it, it is very different when doing it in the corporate world or compared to theories.  You have to learn, change everyday.

8.  You learn from your mistakes, as when too trusting with people who are out to gyp you.
