All Can Become Businessmen, But Not All can become Entrepreneurs

Our generation needs an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION.

In the closing ceremonies of the Regis entrep class, many closing remarks mentioned that the just concluded subject:   had too much work bordering on toxic - too much paper work to be submitted;  it is inappropriate for an elective to have this much activity + the business plan.  I found out that for this class, several are taking Strama;  I had forewarned in the syllabus that taking this subject and strama simultaneously would be challenging.  Others had full load (3 subjects) .

Or perhaps, as an elective, this has to be easy than the rest of the core subjects?  It does not have to be rigorous? But this subject is also an integrative subject. It incorporates all the functions of business, plus the rigors of self mastery and opportunity.   As was mentioned in Good to Great, discipline and hard work must be learned if one is to succeed in business (and for that matter as an entrepreneur)

I keep on hearing that it is better to be criticized in the entrep class, or suffer hard work in the classroom with the assignments and group work, rather than losing money out there for failing to tough it out in the  in the classroom;  it is better to be toughened in the boot camp rather than fizzle out in the battle field because you/they were not prepared. We had three guys falling out;  and for the survivors, you deserve the best in the world and my congratulations. (Addressed to the current Regis entrep class)

Yes, many want to be entrepreneur, but very few can be successful entrepreneur, because few will have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Few will have the guts, the stamina, the endurance, the mind and heart of the entrepreneur.  Thus maybe it is not for everyone.  It is not easy elective or easy A.  It has to be sweated out.  It is hard.

Allow me to post a page in the entrep subject intro powerpoint (can be found in slideshare) mentioning a quote from John F. Kennedy:

"We choose to go to the moon this decade and do all the the other things to get there, not because they are easy but because they are HARD,  because that goal will serve to measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept and which we are not willing to postpone which we intent to win and others too."

I know this post will frighten many entrep wannabees, or prospective studentss of this course.
