Mr Carlito Galamgam Sr., shoemaker, entreprepreneur

Our generation needs an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION.

Mr Galamgam Sr is the father of our very own Carlito Galamgam Jr.  Sr. is no longer considered a small enterprise or he may be modest to tell us that he is large.  If asked if his total assets is in Pl00 million, he declined to comment.  But he supplies Natasha  2000 pairs of shoes daily under the name Jervic (they have a website)

He said that his entrepreneurial journey started when he went abroad, not in search of dollar, but in search of knowledge ie to find out about how foreigners manage their business.  When he returned, he thought of making shoes; but it was in the old traditional way, with five workers.   He pawned the jeep that he bought with his savings from working abroad to start his business with P70t.  Unfortunately, his first delivery was rejected and returned.

Undaunted, he went on and borrowed from a foundation and mortgaged his house.  Fortunately, he was able to supply SM; but he groaned under the weight of 6 months waiting time.

Fortunaely for him, Natasha was looking for a reliable supplier of shoes.  And Natasha became his Godfather, lending him Pl2 million for a warehouse;  of course it was a welcome development because Natasha has to keep on buying from him.

He studied how to mechanize to increase his output and quality of production.  Again Natasha was there to help him,  It was good for Natasha to develop his supplier/supply chain because it means Natasha can expand because of added capacity.

He even outsource shoes in China to 5 suppliers.  Instead of being afraid of Chinese low cost producers, he made a jujitsu of them by buying from them instead. It is part of having a global entrepreneurship outloook.  He asked his son Carlitos Jr, to establish a school for their workers, so that they will be motivated to work harder for them.  Of course the school serves other customers.

Mr Galamgam is the model of entrepreneur we should try to be - to be global.  To meet international competition head on. Most of the entrepreneurs will try to just do the try and tested and be afraid of new technology.  But he embraced new technology and forged progress and increased productivity through new machinery and investments.
