Growing Poverty in US Neighborhoods

Our generation needs an ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTION.

In the CBS Evening news today, Nov 3, 20ll, it was reported that the number of poor neighborhoods is growing by 54%. Wow that is as big number. We have seen a number of news on growing bad signs in the US: l/l5 Americans (6%) live in extreme poverty; 25% of children in US are in life of poverty. You relate that to the 2008 financial crisis, the July 3l, 20ll debt limit crisis and the meltdown that followed. And now the dark clouds ahead: impending implosion of the Eurozone, EU and Greece default in case of failure of referendum.

As an entrepreneur student:

l. What innovative ways can you suggest to arrest growing poverty in neighborhoods in the US?

2. Can entreprenuralism help?

3. Do you agree with the Chinese and the Moslem whom I talked to that US is a has been just like all the great civilizations that fell?

4. Is China really going to be the next economic power?

5. How can private US corporation help US recover?

6. Can US do a South Korea/Indonesia recovery (the l997 financial crisis?)

  1. Hi AC

I did not publish your comment since you do business with multilateral institutions and even travel there. I have received comments in my blog re USA decline from US Dept of State. I think such comments hones up critical thinking. Thanks

  2. 1. What innovative ways can you suggest to arrest growing poverty in neighborhoods in the US?

The answer is in your 2nd question. The US should encourage people and offer financial help to start businesses. Certain criteria should be basis for approval of financial help. eg. global, employment, etc. The strategy of Julie's bakery is a good example. Partnering with BPI for loans to finance Julie's Bakery Franchise.

    2. Can entreprenuralism help?
    Ofcourse.

    3. Do you agree with the Chinese and the Moslem whom I talked to that US is a has been just like all the great civilizations that fell?
No, the US still is a great power and it's location is very strategic as it has access and control of both oceans: Atlantic and the Pacific. Militarily, they still is a great power. Economically, though they are experiencing a slowdown, their growth still is good.

    4. Is China really going to be the next economic power?
Unlikely, if an economy is measured by GDP and growth is still measure through that, China will have to multiply its current growth by more than 10x to be the biggest economy. China still suffers from poverty and it's unemployment rate still is huge. The buzz that China will be the worlds number 1 economy is based on China's productivity rate, which, given it's population, is but natural. It's not like the US which still is under populated.
