Last November 8 was the entrepreneur guest night. We made sure that the entrepreneur had enough time to talk. Everytime we have an entrep guest, l hour seems so short a time for them to recall their stories and journey as entrepreneur. Thus, I make sure that for every entrep class there are guest entrepreneurs. And the group gets a handsome grade for making sure they have a guest. It takes a lot of work to bring one to the class but that is part of training. For one, the entrepreneurs value their time and it is cruel to take them away from the thing they love most - being with and running their business.
Bringing in the entrepreneur in the class achieves several thingss:
l. There is a bridging between the academe and the business world;
2. The student comes a step closer to being an entrepreneur. What is entrepreneurship if you have not experienced being with an entrepreneur?
3. The story, the journey of the entrepreneur captures the three masteries: self, opportunity, and the entreprise and what could be better way than to hear it straight from the horse errrr entrepreneur's mouth?
4. They inspire students to be more than who they are at present.
When I was given an individual assignment to interview a millionaire, I got hooked and inspired to be one.
So our guest entrepreneurs were:
Luk Macalalad - wine maker
Carlito Galamgam Sr. shoemaker
Jojo Javier - software designer, outsourcing
The guest entrepreneurs are at the back: Messrs Jojo, Luk and Carlito Sr.
