There were 4 things we set out to do for last night, April 3, 2012: presentation of the inspiration video, a self mastery project, conversation mapping of various topics on entrepreneurship, new product/product conceptualization, and debate: entrepreneurs are born, made or are lucky. However, we ran out of time; we just discussed business plant instead.
Inspiration Video
This is a self mastery project. The students were requested to prepare a 2 to 3 minute video about an inspiring song which he thinks represent himself. The video would be presented in class, uploaded to a third part site say: daily motion, slideshare or you tube, the embed code and link taken and posted at this blog.
There were l0 who presented and most of them were entrepreneurs (the courageous ones) : Anthony Pantoja (he should bring pan de sal samples next time; he sells am and pm pan de sal in Tanauan and Lipa city) Paolo Angelo, Arch Risha Tobias, Kristine Raval of Ayala Lands (mt. climber), Ma. Carmina Isabelle Tionloc (Assumptionista , unica hija) Kathleen Crisostomo (make bigger mistakes tomorrow) John Ng (the animation was terrific), Andrew Chucokiong of Jollibee,
I used to have I am the best boasting session for this. But boasting thru the video raises the boast level several notches higher because you can gather all the pictures, prepare a story board, without being nahihiya. The pictures of the family are there, trips abroad: China, Thailand, Taiwan USA Egypt Europe etc. The students, in their twenties yet have travelled a lot (spent a lot? or sent by their companies for travel abroad) This blogger is humbled by what they had done; some had romantic poses and may well make their own video and movie outfits.
Some videos are posted on this blog.
Conversation mapping
Really creative
Awesome
This is raising adult learning several notches higher
Several topics were assigned to various groups for mind mapping initially and eventually visited by other groups for their comments: innovation, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship and nation building, social entrepreneurship, global entrepreneurship, and creativity. (More can be learned on this from the slideshare presentation of ProfJorgeentrep by clicking the link at the sidebar widget on Links) The groups opted for break out in the quadrangle near the chapel and inside the ampitheather. The exercise is supposed to elicit a cross section of what the students think on the various matter on entrepreneurship and related topics. The confusing network of words are then analyzed for 3 keywords, tags, and then one actionable item is selected (I applied what I learned from the REE conference)
Revising product concept for ID
The groups were tasked to redefine the concept behind the ID and come up with a new product concept, design, and mock up. The materials to be used were the stuff used in the faculty conference, scissors meta cards, carboard, cartoline, paper, lanyard, sticks, etc.. This is a training on creativity, product design and collaboration. The ideas that came out were breath detection device, ID on iphone (even if you leave the ID at home) wristband ID. Everybody must have squeezed their right brain to come with the product ideas.
When they were done, they were asked to come up front and make their pitch. The pitch (in effect an executive summary) is as important as the product design. The right pitch will get your right and adequate financial support, network.
Here are some of the images:
The New Revolutionary ID, cant leave without it?!
Making the pitch (marketing the new id)
The product demonstrator (Kathleen) was the pitch stealer!?
Creativity, which is emphasized in the several exercises and workshops conducted, is a continuing process of genesis - creation. Creation continues everyday with entrepreneurs. When we make a video, we create. When we have new product ideas we create.
From the way it looks though, this is something that can be accomplished through practice, practice,
practice. I guess, this class is unique in a way
