Qualities of an Entrepreneur

What qualities of an entrepreneur do you possess?

Integrity is one of the most important qualities especially if we will become successful entrepreneur in the future. It should be seen in our everyday living and in simple things we do. For example, in the workplace, if given a task or a target by your superior and you accept it , it is not just about doing the job just for the sake of finishing it but it is about giving your best in reaching the target. Even if you didn't reach the target, and your superior knows that you've given all your efforts and it's your best, you still have your integrity. It is also about being honest in everything we do and we don't put the blame on other people's shoulder.

            Passion is all about loving what you are doing. Even if you are doing the same thing everyday, you don't lose interest but you continuously find ways in improving and developing the process of what you are doing. It is also about learning new ways or techniques that will be very useful to your task.

            Having the perseverance and motivation are important characteristics. It is about getting up even if you fall. You have to strive and be strong in spite of all the hardships you encounter. It is about believing in yourself, the people around you and if you are in business, the product or service you are offering your customer. It is very difficult when you yourself don't believe in the product or service you have; you wouldn't know how to handle complaints because you yourself know that there is something wrong. Referrals and repeat sales will be impossible or few. Motivation is connected with perseverance. It is something that will push you to go and remained focus on your goal or objective. Without the motivation, it will be hard for you to succeed.

What qualities of an entrepreneur are not yet with you?

Time Management is very important especially in business dealings. This is something I want to learn and master. Being well organized, you already have an idea on the flow of your activities for the day, what you have to do, time and even where you have to go. But there are times when you procrastinate. This is a problem especially when I know that the task is easy and it will not take so much time. Punctuality is also an issue under time management. Most of the time, you no longer have time allowances when it comes to uncontrollable factors like traffic or last minute assistance you have to give to an advisor for my case.

Interpersonal Skills is about dealing with other people and communicating with them with confidence and delivering your message clearly. It will also include being a good listener. We all interact with different people everyday at work, school, restaurant, etc. But a problem arises when the situation is too professional and intimidation came in first. This is the time when you have low self esteem and sometime you can't even recall the ideas that came in to your mind.

Another quality I want to have is strong leadership skills. I know as a leader, there are a lot of things that I need to learn. It is not just about having good interpersonal skills, motivation and knowing the needs of your subordinates, it is also about being firm and knowing how to be firm and know when you need to adjust and take considerations. Learn how to get the attention of your subordinates if you have to correct them and not just all about giving compliments in their success.
