Factors Paper - Cathleen Jem Caraig

I found a list in the internet entitled "25 Common Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs" that was written by James Stephenson. With this list, I was able to check the qualities I have and the qualities I need to enhance or achieve in order to become one of the successful entrepreneurs.
What qualities of an entrepreneur do you possess?
On top of the list is to do what you enjoy. I think I have this characteristic because I'm definitely not doing what I don't enjoy. I am currently a full time student and during my free time I do what I enjoy best which is baking and reading books.
Second on the list is to take what you do seriously. Whenever a task is given to me, I always keep in my mind that the tasks are to be treated seriously. Going beyond the expected result is also my way of telling the person who's given me the task that it is valuable to me. This way also keeps me motivated.
Third and fourth, remember it's all about the customer, and get to know your customers. I used to work as a server and a host in a restaurant and I know that customers are the most valuable people in that industry. I think I have this characteristic of an entrepreneur because I know that sometimes you have to give 110% of your best service in order to get customer satisfaction.
Fifth and sixth, project a positive business image, and build a rock-solid reputation. I have been brought up in an environment which encourages positivity. Also, my schools taught me how important an image is in an establishment. Therefore, I think I have this characteristic of an entrepreneur in which a positive image is important.
Seventh, level the playing field with technology. Technology has been a helpful tool to me both personally and professionally. With the use of blogs and search engines, it is easier for me to know the latest trends which can be useful someday. I think I have this characteristic because I know a thing or two about technology of today's world.
Eighth, invest in yourself. One way of investing is enrolling and finishing an MBA degree. This degree will give me a competitive advantage if ever I will enter the business industry.
Lastly, be accessible. Being accessible is not a problem with me. I have become a blogger, I always make sure to check my e-mails everyday and I always have my cell phone with me. I make sure I have my planner with me or a notebook to take down important notes and dates for meetings and important occasions.
"What qualities of an entrepreneur are not yet with you?"
From the same article, I have identified the qualities of an entrepreneur which I need to enhance or achieve in order to be successful.
1) Plan everything and get involved. I have yet to master the art of planning. I am improving this quality by having a planner or notebook in hand. I also need to get involved more on activities outside school that will help me create more ideas on businesses.
2) Manage money wisely. I have a lot of things to learn on income and expenses especially on my personal account. Although I am not a person who splurges so much on bags, shoes and clothes, I still struggle to keep myself from spending so much on food.
3) Become a shameless self-promoter (without becoming obnoxious). Improving this quality will not be an easy task for me. First, I have to develop confidence before I can be a shameless self-promoter. I am a shy person and I know I don't have courage to promote myself to others.
4) Master the art of negotiations. I lack this quality of an entrepreneur because as I said earlier I am always shy. As much as possible, I stay away from arguments and conversations which will lead to serious talks and negotiations. If I am to be an entrepreneur, I really need to improve on this quality.
5) Design Your workspace for success, get and stay organized. I need to improve on this quality of an entrepreneur by cleaning my workspace and only giving space to important things. Knowing what to prioritize and what to really put more effort into should be a quality of every entrepreneur.
6) Limit the number of hats you wear. As I've said, prioritizing on important things create should be a quality of every entrepreneur. This gives more value and good image of the entrepreneur. I lack this quality because I still need to improve in knowing what and when to prioritize things. 3.0
