Taho vendor and newly built bulalohan bukohan, ambulant vegetable vendor behind
Fresh fish vendor
I went to the Lakeside part this PM and met the town mayor inspecting the park developments. The park was pretty crowded. A lot of people were there because of the hot humid weather.
He told me he has been reading the blog posts I have been emailing. I suggested that whatever the project is: tourism, art, park development, his goals must include: development of entrepreneurship, job generation, and revenue for the LGU to recover the costs.
He said that for the following projects: sports and arts center, new development at the municipal grounds, lakeside park, he was able to generate 300 entrepreneur/vendors and legalize 400 tricycle operators.
Some math:
His office collects mere PHP 20.00 per vendor/day
300 x 20 x 30 days x l2 mos = PHP 2,160,000.00. That is a lot of money (about 2% of total LGU revenue) Nothing was done much except to think of entrepreneur's in the equation.
Jobs generated: 700 say PHP 100 per day x 30 x 12 = P25,200,000 per year. That is 700 less problems per year for the LGU
Congratulations, Mayor Gerry, Keep It Up.
