Surprising Places To Find Customers
Jynell Berkshire

I have talked before that customers are key to your business. Without customers, you have no money, which means you have no business. But finding new and innovative ways to attract customers can be difficult, especially if you do not have a big advertising budget.

The good news is that you don't need a budget, large or small. You can use resources that are literally right under your nose and won't cost you a dime. Surprising, right?

Often times, as a business owner you overlook the most obvious opportunities in marketing your business. The ones right there in front of your face. The ones when someone mentions them to you, you literally have an "aha moment" and think to yourself "why didn't I think of that?" But then, there are other times that when you learn of something you have never heard of before you can't wait to implement it in your business.

Whatever the case, attracting customers is the secret to your success. So, in today's article, I want to share with you four strategies of where you can find customers that you may not have thought of before.

Strategy 1: Your Current Customers

Although it may not be a surprise, I would be remiss if I didn't point out the obvious first…your current customers are a great resource for you to find new customers.

Often times one of the most overlooked strategies is to ask your existing customers to refer a friend. Don't be afraid to ask them to do this for you because many will. You can even reward your customers for their referrals, such as giving them a free gift once they refer a certain number of new customers to you.

Remember, many of your existing customers may not even think about referring business to you, until you ask. Most happy customers will be glad to either tell their friends about you or give you the names of some of their friends that you can contact.

You will be amazed at how many referrals you will get, especially if you make it easy for them and it does not take a lot of time for them to do. For example, you can do this online or by using a printed form for them to fill out.

You can also offer them a special bonus by entering the contact information of 3-5 of their friends. For example, if you are a dry cleaning business, you can give them $50 off their next purchase if they refer 5 friends.

The same is true for an online business. You can give them another one of your digital products for free or give them an irresistible gift that you know they will surely want. The point is most existing customers will refer business if you simply ask, and even more will give referrals if you offer an incentive.

Another way you can find new customers is to leverage the power of Google, which are the next two strategies.

Strategy 2: Use Google Alerts

We all know that Google dominates as a search engine. You literally can find anything on the internet with a simple Google search. So, why not leverage the power of Google to find new customers?

One way to do this is by using Google Alerts. Google Alerts are notifications you receive by email when a specific search query you have created is found by Google.

For example, if you are a real estate broker in Indianapolis then you may want to set up a few test alerts like "where can I find Indianapolis homes for sale," or "what homes are for sale in Indianapolis." Then when these keywords are posted on a web page, such as in a forum comment or blog post, Google picks up the keywords when it indexes the page and sends you an email.

The down side though to Google Alerts is that it will only send you results based upon the specific keywords or phrases you have set up in your alert notifications. So, take some time and think through what specific questions a customer may be asking about before you set up the alerts. Otherwise, you may be missing out on the opportunity to find new customers. So, don't be afraid to set up numerous alerts for specific search phrases.

You can also let Google do the work for you using Google Product Search. This powerful marketing tool can drive a lot of traffic to your products without you lifting a finger.
Do you ever feel like you should be doing better in life than you are right now, especially considering how much effort you put in? Does it sometimes feel like you output so much time and energy but just don't get any closer to your goals?

Well I've got something important to share with you...

The truth is, sometimes hard workers don't always get the rewards they deserve. It's a harsh truth but maybe you've seen this too...

That is why I am excited to share what my friend, Natalie Ledwell, has discovered that gives anyone the ability to achieve any goal, without having to put in so much hard work.

Reserve your seat now for Natalie's upcoming webinar to finally understand the real reason why.

Strategy 3: Use Google Product Search

Google Product Search is an extension of Google dedicated to helping shoppers find products quickly and easily on the web. Millions of people come to Google each day, and many are actively looking for products. Google Product Search connects your products to the shoppers searching for them.

And, the best part, it doesn't cost you anything to list your products on Google Product Search. There's no spending money to set up the account or a cost-per-click. Plus, Google lets you update your product information so customers find relevant items when they are looking for them.

So, if you are not using Google Product Search as a way to attract customers, you may be missing out on a great opportunity to increase your sales. Leverage the powerhouse, Google, and let it work for you.

Another powerhouse you may want to leverage is YouTube. A great way to do this is by posting videos, which is the next strategy below.

Strategy 4: Make Funny & Outrageous Videos

One way to get thousands of views on YouTube is to post funny and outrageous videos. We live in a world where people want to be entertained. Often times, the more comical a video is, the more people will view it and then share it with others. Before you know it, your video has gone viral.

When this happens, take advantage of it. Use the video as your sales machine. Make sure to include keywords in the title of your video that you want users to find you on when searching YouTube. Also, include a call to action in your video that you want the user to do after they are done watching the video. This can be as simple as including a link to your web site in the video.

So, there you have it. Four strategies on where you can find customers that you may not have thought of before.

1. Look at your existing customers as a way to gain new customers.

2. Ask your existing customer for referrals and reward them for making such referrals.

3. Use Google Alerts to notify you when potential customers are searching on certain pre-set keywords you have created for your products or services. If you do not have a Google Alert account, set one up.

4. Use Google Product Search to connect you with buyers looking to purchase your products. If you do not have a Google Product Search account, set one up and list your products.

5. Create funny and outrageous videos on YouTube to promote your products or services.

6. Sit back and watch your sales increase.

Body:

A great way to find food that is safe, healthy, and free from pesticides is by purchasing organic foods. You can purchase organic food at your local grocery store or even grow your own. It does not take a lot of space to begin to grow some of your very favorite vegetables, herbs or fruit. They just need sun, water and organic mulch.

Mind:

A great way to unleash your creativity and help you achieve your business goals is to use a business journal. You can draw diagrams, cartoons, or even stick figures of your business goals. Don't worry about being an artist. Just doodle away and see what new ideas flow as a result.

Spirit:

A great way to enjoy the outdoors is through boating or skiing. The breeze in your hair and the intensity of being on water can produce a thrill from your childhood that you have probably long since forgotten.
