Qualities of an Entrepreneur
What qualities of an entrepreneur do you possess?
1. Disciplined
I would like to believe that I am a disciplined person. I am focused and I work my way through the hindrances and problems. I try my best to have a defined work ethics that would help me succeed.
2. Positive-Thinker
When things do not turn out in the way I would want them to be, I always try my best to look at the positive side of things. I also look at other avenues wherein my idea or decision would work. I do not sink into depression that easily.
3. Confident
I see myself as a confident person who can be placed anywhere and introduce myself with ease. I am not afraid to go and mingle with people. I am also confident especially when I know what I am getting myself into.
4. Strong work ethic
I have a strong belief that one must exert equal amounts of effort and work ethics in order to succeed in everything you do. One must be disciplined in order to achieve the goals that you have set your mind into doing. If there is effort and hard-work, there will be results.
5. Passion
I love what I do and I do not find it as a chore. I believe that when you love to do something, it will never feel like work and instead, it will be just a thing you love doing. Passion for me is important because I take this as a driving force behind being a successful entrepreneur. If you do not love what you are doing or what business you have, you will never succeed.
6. Money Conscious
I am very aware of my financial status. Being money conscious is a very important trait of being an entrepreneur. I believe that if you know where you stand financially, you would be able to know where you stand as a business person. Having ample amounts of cash is good but one must also review the liabilities and payables in order to be a successful entrepreneur.
7. Planner
Planning ahead of time saves time, costs, and effort. Planning also lets you think and act ahead of time. It lets you see the possible consequences; it lets you review the different aspects of your business. It also helps you have a back-up plan in case something does go wrong. I know I am a planner and this is a trait I can say is my strongest point.
8. Good communication skills
I love speaking. I believe that I have adequate communication skills that would let me talk with other persons with ease. I think that this is an important quality to have because when you have a business, you need to talk with other people a lot. You talk with customers, suppliers, stakeholders, and other possible people that can help the business. Having good communication skills can help sell your business and thus create more profit.
9. Team Leader
Having leadership qualities is also an important tool in becoming a good entrepreneur. One must know how to lead his or her team for a successful business venture. I would like to believe that I have good leadership skills having been class presidents for some classes in AGSB and for being leaders in other aspects in my previous jobs.
10. Team Player / Member
Being a good leader also means that you need to be a good team member. Cooperation and collaboration are important. Being able to be flexible to meet other people's ideas and decisions are important as well. Being open to ideas is a good start of being a team member and I believe that I am open to ideas of other people.
What qualities of an entrepreneur are not yet with you?
1. Self-Starter
I am personally afraid to start my own business even if I know that I possess qualities that would make a good entrepreneur. I am scared to start my own business because one, I don't know how to and two, I don't know what would be a good business venture.
2. Creativity
I know I am a creative person but I am not that creative for me to start actually start my own business. The creative juices in me are not that fired-up in order for me to think of a good business to start.
3. Expert in one field
I am not yet an expert on this field. I have limited knowledge on how to start up a business and how to make a business work. I have no idea whatsoever on what needs to be done in putting up a business, like licenses, taxes, and the like.
4. Risk-taker
I may have good qualities of being an entrepreneur but one of the greatest setbacks that I find myself in is the fact that I am not a risk-taker. I like my comfort zones well and I cherish it. When change is around the corner, I am usually scared of what lies ahead. As the saying goes, "do not rock the boat". I am not a risk-taker. The only time I take risks is when I have no choice but to take it.
5. Computer System-Oriented
I am probably one of those people who do not know how to use SAP or any program-related software that is needed to run a business. Since I belong to the financial industry ever since I graduated from college, I have never encountered the SAP system (or any system for that matter that is like SAP).

For this, I find this subject to be really valuable for my learning and exposure to entrepreneurship.

I undertake to abide by this learning agreement.
