In his speech before the Ateneo GSB faculty in Canyon Cove last July l2,2011, Fr Jett's presentation mentioned on nation building, s..t, s..t, s..t. I blogged this and I was embarrassed that the the web search pages picked this up.(So I had to edit and remove the two letters to make the blog less offensive..Sorry father..)
The remark should challenge us to work harder on this motto/slogan of nation building.
Really, why is Philippines behind its ASEAN neighbors on the following items: poverty alleviation, education, and economic growth (measured in terms of gdp/capita - only $l700.00/capita. (It is $6000/ in Thailand)?
And just to think that many able leaders who wielded power and had the chance to really contribute to nation building are graduates of this school. We know that the current head of Supreme Court is from this school. The list is long...The former president is from a Jesuit institution; now she is sick and busy defending herself from the plunder cases filed vs. her. Many thus failed in this mission.. and hence the deragatory comment.
