Ms Lee Beng of Hibeam and GEM was truly generous. She shared with us many things on entrepreneurship including the definition she liked best. I like it too:
From Timmons:
"CREATING AND BUILDING SOMETHING FROM PRACTICALLY NOTHING..."
..."Initiating, doing, achieving, and building rather than watching, describing and analyzing.."
.." knack for finding opportunities, where others see chaos..."
Where the corporate guys always talk about resources, cap ex and inputs, the entrepreneurs, especially start ups, have nothing. The entrepreneurs go beyond strategy - strategists look at their resources to achieve their objectives. The entrepreneurs have none.
The other important component of Lee Beng's definition is the action component. Less academics, less hair splitting analysis but more of action and doing
