The new products that were significant were the projector on a cellphone, the smart tv, the energy saving refs and other appliances.
The lecture on supply management was a case study on supply chain management improvement at Samsung. The lecturer appeared very conversant on supply chain problems at Samsung, and how they were solved. The salient points were:
l. The rockfish theory. The value of the fish increases when it reaches the customer early, and it depends on the way it is cooked.
2. Better forecasting and removal of just in case (buffer stocks) at all level, or having just one buffer for all for sales, purchasing and marketing to prevent very high inventory level.
What was amazing was that the picture taken at reception hall was posted on the wall fast, everyone was given a mousepad with the group picture on it, and everybody got a gift.
Great tour, but we did not learn much from Samsung.
Thanks to the organizer for the tour and opportunity to see Samsung office and museum.
